In what can only be described as one of the more heartbreaking stories of the last few seasons, Captain Brent “Trent” Trenga entered the Summer 2026 campaign armed with a fresh draft strategy, AI-powered data analysis, and a level of optimism hitherto unmatched in Over 35 League history.
And for a while, it looked good.
Until it didn’t look good.
Kingspan assembled what many around the league described as one of the hardest first lines to play against, led by Dan “Dan-o” Rogers, who spent much of the season grinding in corners, winning battles, and skating circles around opposing players who had jobs to go to the next morning.
But despite the talent, the analytics, and whatever proprietary algorithm Trent was presumably running between games, Kingspan entered the final night of the regular season with its playoff hopes hanging by a thread.
The equation was simple: Kingspan vs. Revelry. Winner goes to the playoffs. Loser goes home.
This was Kingspan’s moment.
Unfortunately, somebody forgot to tell Revelry.
In what can objectively—and without even the slightest hint of journalistic exaggeration—be described as the most embarrassing loss in must-win game history, Revelry dismantled Kingspan 8–1, securing the sixth and final playoff seed and abruptly ending Trent’s hopes of finally returning to postseason hockey.
Six straight seasons.
Six straight missed playoffs.
Somewhere, a spreadsheet quietly closed itself.
For Revelry and captain Sean Fleming, however, the story may only be beginning. After fighting their way into the postseason on the final night, they now enter as the dangerous sixth seed with absolutely nothing to lose. Is this the beginning of a Cinderella run?
Stranger things have happened at the Carolina Ice Palace.
As for Captain Trent?
We don’t think we’ve heard the last of him.
He’ll take some well-earned time off, regroup, study the tape, retrain the AI models, and return next season armed with a fresh draft strategy and an even greater hunger to finally taste playoff hockey again.
FINAL: Revelry 8, Kingspan 1
Rest up, Trent.
We’re rooting for you.
