WorldVest Wins 2nd Title

In what can only be described as the greatest championship game in Carolina Ice Palace history—provided you did not look at the scoreboard—the Dire Wolves faced off against WorldVest in the Winter 2026 Over 35 League Championship.

The hype was substantial.

Songs were produced. AI images were generated. Memes were produced at a rate normally reserved for presidential elections and poorly officiated NHL playoff games. The Battle of Besties had arrived: Captains Matt Bell and Dan Tanton, brothers on and off the ice, would finally settle the score the traditional way—by playing recreational hockey late at night with a bunch of other middle-aged men.

Unfortunately for the Dire Wolves, somebody forgot to tell WorldVest that this was supposed to be dramatic.

The injury-plagued Wolves simply didn’t have it. WorldVest came out firing, scoring three goals on what appeared to be the first four shots. It was an impressive display of offensive efficiency and an equally impressive demonstration of why save percentage is sometimes best left unmentioned.

From there, WorldVest never looked back.

The much-anticipated heavyweight battle between Bell and Tanton quickly became less Rocky IV and more “please just run the clock.”

When the final horn mercifully sounded, WorldVest had secured a decisive 7–1 victory, the championship, and approximately 3 months’ worth of trash-talking privileges.

For Captain Dan “Danny” Tanton, the victory marks his second Over 35 League championship as a captain, further cementing his legacy while leaving Captain Bell still chasing that elusive first piece of hardware—and presumably reconsidering several draft decisions.

The Battle of Besties belongs to Danny.

The championship belongs to WorldVest.

And the Dire Wolves?

They’ll howl again, at least during the regular season.
